Seth Baum, Executive Director of the Global Catastrophic Risk Institute, attended this December 2014 international meeting, part of a larger initiative to reduce the risk of nuclear weapons use by highlighting humanitarian implications.
A draft version was presented at the Council meeting on December 7, 2014, when a plan to proceed was also approved. Comments and suggestions are welcome and should be submitted by February 28, 2015.
Deadlines Coming Up for Two New Health Effects Institutute Funding Opportunities for Research on Air Pollution Health Effects
Preliminary applications for research on health effects of long-term exposure to low-level air pollution are due February 16, 2015. Letters of intent for the Walter A. Rosenblith New Investigator Award for junior air pollution health effects investigators are due March 2, 2015.
This professional education opportunity on principles, concepts and applications of risk analysis and risk communication is scheduled for March 9-12 in Boston MA and will be directed by James K. Hammitt of the Harvard Center for Risk Analysis.
