Two events in Baltimore, both slated for Tuesday afternoon, will commemorate the life of environmental sociologist Eugene A. Rosa, who died in February of 2013 at age 71.
Rosa, whose work has been described as “truly interdisciplinary and influential among scholars who span the social, ecological, and physical sciences,” was an active SRA member for many years. To read more about his life and work, go here to access an article from the Washington State University website about his legacy.
The memorial sessions at SRA – both on Tuesday, December 10 – are from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., a session entitled “Authors Meet Critics: The Risk Society Revisited,” and from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m., a session chaired by Tom Dietz on “Risks in Social and Cultural Perspective: In Memory of Gene Rosa.”
The 1:30 session will feature discussion of Rosa’s last book, The Risk Society Revisited, by Eugene A. Rosa, Ortwin Renn and Aaron M. McCright. The 3:30 session features four scholarly presentations being made in Rosa’s honor. Refer to the final meeting program for details.
