"The importance of good risk communication is clear: without it risk management could be in vain. Decision makers need to understand how the public perceives risks in order to communicate effectively and to be able to address hazards in a timely and efficient manner.

This course explores the scientific foundations for effective risk communication. Bringing together psychology, sociology, organisation and decision sciences this is a truly multi-disciplinary course with an international outlook.

Together with risk assessment and risk management, risk communication is a major field in risk analysis and this course will equip participants with a thorough grounding in risk communication theory, tools and practice. You will be introduced to the principles of risk perception, communication and governance before looking at how these theories are applied in practice. Panel discussions will offer an invaluable opportunity to learn about the current state-of-the-art of risk communication from internationally renowned experts in the field"

Effective Risk Communication: Theory, Tools, and Practical Skills for Communicating about Risk
